    MPHA Legislative Priorities 2016

    ·        Support Gun Violence Prevention efforts

    ·        Support Vaccine Education and Promotion efforts

    ·        Support a $6 million investment in for Safe Routes to School infrastructure

    ·        Support a statewide comprehensive multi-modal transportation package that includes significant new funding for active transportation

    ·        Maintain Statewide Health Improvement Program funding

The Policy & Advocacy committee chose these priorities based on current engagement in coalitions or other external groups, and political feasibility.

Also note that the legislative priorities are a guide for the organization, and are not meant to preclude action taken in support of other policies.

Carol Berg and Janny Brust, both long-time members and past presidents of MPHA, retired from their full-time careers in January. Each of them made indelible marks on the public health fabric in Minnesota and will be missed. However, both have pledged to remain involved in public health pursuits in some capacity, including remaining connected to MPHA. We wish you both the best!

Our booth will also feature a Made in Minnesota photo booth where fairgoers can snap a photo and enter a social media contest aimed at raising awareness about newborn screening. Be sure to check out the hashtags #NewbornScreening and #MadeInMinnesota to see all the fun photos and like your favorites!
