Food for Thought: Addressing Occupational Violence in Grocery Stores in the Saint Paul Metropolitan Area
Sunniva will present on the research she did with UFCW Local 1189 on metro area grocery store workers' experiences with occupational violence. Sunniva and her co-intern, Victoria Valentina, completed this research as a part of the Summer 2024 cohort of the Occupational Health Internship Program, which is designed to link the skills and interests of students with the needs of workers employed in an under-served or high-hazard job.
Presenter Bio
Sunniva Berg graduated from Occidental College in 2024 with a degree in Urban and Environmental Policy. She has served MPHA as the Intern for the Health Equity Committee and the Policy & Advocacy Committee for the past year and a half. She will start her Masters this fall and plans to pursue a career in occupational and environmental health research.

MPHA Health Equity Committee also include dedicated time following the presentation for meaningful discussion, connection and networking, participant updates, and reports on committee and MPHA activities.
Meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Currently all meetings are virtual. Meetings are open to MPHA members and non-members who want to learn more and take action on advancing health equity in Minnesota.
